Ulu Knife and Cutting Board
Translated to English language, Ulu (pronounced oo-loo) is Arctic natives’ term for “womans’s knife”. This piece of cutlery, originally made from slate and bone, is easily the most copied cultural tool the Arctic has contributed for world-wide utility.

Used for skinning, scraping hides, boning, filleting and even shaping clothing by Eskimos, the ulu has become a popular kitchen tool in other cultures because of it’s remarkable versatility.

Use it to slice cheese, summer sausage, fruits, vegetables and deserts. Chop chicken, meat cuts and vegetables for stir frying. Dice herbs, garlic and vegetables for soups and hors d’oeuvres. Slice the crispiest of pizza crusts with the flick of a wrist.

The blade is made of stainless steel and has a solid walnut handle. Caution---this blade is very sharp.

It comes with a reversible hard wood cutting board fashioned from interlaid solid walnut and maple. One side is bowl shaped to accommodate finely chopping herbs and vegetables. Flip it over for a flat slicing surface.
